I. Brief history of school:
Zhongguang High School was formerly privately run Zhongguang High School, founded in Feb. 1945, although it was the eve of the victory of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, Loutang was still occupied by the Japanese army, to avoid the enemy’s enslaving education of young people not in schools, prominent personages such as Zhou Juzhen, Pan Zhihang, Chen Fengzhang and Ge Shixiong donated their money and also raised money in various channels, to found the privately run Zhongguang High School. The school name “Zhongguang” implied the deep patriotic affection of founders to “recover China” and “rejuvenate China”.
In 1956, Zhongguang High School was changed to a public school, and was renamed Loutang Middle School. The Party and government leaders gave much support to this school born in wartime, and large amount of investment was made to construct and rebuild the campus.
In 1958, the school was added with senior section and increased enrollment, many college graduates became teachers of the school to strengthen the teaching team, and a peak of schooling came in the leap-forward era. The period of 1958~1966 saw the prosperity of the school, and it had over 30 classes, with over 1,500 students in school and a faculty of over 100.
In 2004, the history of Zhongguang Middle School opened a new page. To tap the culture of the old school and carry on the Zhongguang spirit, Loutang Middle School restored its old name —— Zhongguang Middle School, and the school name was inscribed by Zhou Ligao, one of the first session of graduates from Zhongguang Middle School, setting a new milestone in the development history of Zhongguang Middle School.
In Sept. 2006, to further push forward “public trust education”, implement the guiding policy of the Jiading District Government and Education Bureau “implementing high school education with high quality and strengthening high school”, and better serve the broad masses of people, the senior section of Zhongguang Middle School relocated as a whole from Loutang Town to the downtown area of Jiading, and named Zhongguang High School, becoming a full-time public high school.

II. Philosophy of school
School running philosophy
The guiding ideology of the school is “education modernization must have inclusive cultures and internationalized vision, must be inherited by the nation and be based on scientific approaches”, the school adheres to and practices the schooling philosophy of “running school with culture”, takes care of the life growth of students, orients to the personality development and sustainable development of teachers and students, endeavors to explore and practice featured and diversified schooling, so that all students receive suitable education, and it continually pushes forward course reform for “widening foundation, emphasizing experience and skill”, to promote all-round healthy growth of students.
Target of school running
The school endeavors to build it into a high school with cultural and artistic features, cultivate the refined morale and humanistic temperament of both rigidity and flexibility for teachers and students, to shape a museum campus environment with thick cultural ambience; teachers and students will have fair humanistic literacy; the course system will embody its features of schooling, and there will be featured items suitable for development of students.

III. School features (key items/activities)
The school adheres to the schooling philosophy of “establishment on culture”, guided by the spirit of “respect, care, accountability and inclusiveness”, it will strengthen the construction of “museum” type campus culture environment by grasping the campus environment, school courses and mental and cultural construction, bring into active play the fostering function of campus culture, and endeavor to explore and practice the road of “running a school with good cultural and art features”.
The school sticks to the course concept of “suitable education” with the view of widening foundation, emphasizing experience and skill, continually advances course reform to build a course system for suitable education with its characteristics; it fosters groups of teachers and students with fair humanistic quality, starting from caring the demand of individual life of students, practices the humanistic concern education of “extending individuality and developing special skills”; and it develops features items suitable to the growth of students, to provide the most suitable development space and platform for every life.
The school organizes teachers and students to jointly participate in environmental culture construction, designs in a research learning approach the pattern to construct a “museum type” campus environment culture incorporating science and technology, humanity and historical development in the form of special topic modules, and has established step by step historical culture exhibiting gallery, theme culture museum, class culture museum place and Jiading treasure museum spots, as well as the “biology, environment and life” campus science and technology museum, to allow students to create environment and build up knowledge in analyzing things, and cultivate and restrain their morale in real environment.
The school has actively carried out the construction of “students overall development guiding system”, set up “VIP” courses specific to personality of students and for innovative fostering, and developed life caring course and career life navigation course oriented to all students, to guide the students to learn to plan their own future; about 100 school-based courses favorable to the development of students, such as car drive simulation, pottery casting, ceramic painting, Chinese tea art, dragon and lion dance art, digital photographing, film choreographing, Chinese hard-tipped and soft pen calligraphy, to build rich practice platforms for the development of students and provide high quality education service to promote diversified and overall development of students.
In course development, the school is aimed at “learning how to live, upgrading quality, enhancing temperament and pursuing for value”, and has gradually worked out over 100 school-based courses in 13 modules of five sectors “cultivation, health building, humanistic art, scientific and technological innovation and daily life skills”, thus effectively establishing the pool of school-based courses. Students are allowed to select courses online and have courses in different classes, and are managed by a credit system, so that the cultural will of school is well combined with the autonomous interests of students, to ensure autonomous development of students.
In teaching, the school has kept on exploring on democratic classroom that embodies humanistic features, the “2020” teaching pattern” for personal experience, implementing discipline smart interpreting of teaching plans, preparing “learning guidance manuscript” in line with learning features, the “school-based question bank” for discipline teaching drill and “teaching by hanging name plate” to allow students to choose teachers. In activity courses, the school actively carries out ten major campus culture festivals, coffee shop operation, film direction and digital photographing, and various community practice courses for students, all these contain school culture education, to allow every student to develop in the most suitable way.

Future development orientation of the school:
For the future development, Zhongguang will energetically explore on construction of modern school system with diversified teaching in high school and featured courses, to realize joint internal and external development of education resources of courses, teachers and hardware and software, and cooperative schooling in area, to jointly foster and promote ideological and moral development, scientific and technological innovation, harmonic humanistic quality and health development of students.
1. Implement diversified and features schooling in senior section with featured items, to push ahead overall development of school.
The school will be developed with special features of “Chinese style” with inheriting Chinese traditional culture as the core, of “cultural art” emphasizing culture and art; and of psychological health education with career planning as navigation, and also be developed into a green ecological school developing on scientific and technological innovation;
2. Provide more diversified course system for “suitable education” that can be selected to fully meet the personal demand of every student, and build up course clusters of national tradition and cultural studies of Chinese ancient civilization, of cultural art cultivation, for overall development guidance and on green ecological environmental protection.
3. Expand the ideas of running school, integrate social education resources and carry out cooperative schooling, to realize sharing of resources of teachers, courses and facilities in joint development, to promote all-round development of students. We will establish the mechanism of cooperative schooling with higher education institutes, the joint development mechanism with cultural museums, the resources sharing mechanism with folk art pioneering parks, the interconnection mechanism with social vocational training institutions, and the cultural merging mechanism with international sister schools.
